Taoist 8 Immortals Dit Da Jow

Taoist 8 Immortals Dit Da Jow is a old classic Jow passed down by Master Share K. Lew and by some accounts dates back close to 1300 years to one of the eight immortals named Lu Dong Pin. This is not to be confused with the Shaolin 8 Immortals Dit Da Jow, which we will cover in a later article.

This liniment was applied after certain exercises of the Dao Dan Pai and for treating injuries from training and combat. Master Lew passed away in 2012 but you can purchase this liniment already made from Master Lew’s surviving spouse Juanita, we encourage you to contact her if you need the ready made liniment. She can be contacted thru this link: http://www.esalen.org/person/juanita-lew

If you wish to make your own Taoist 8 Immortals Dit Da Jow at home we have a similar formula available in kit form which is easy to make and ready to use in 3-4 weeks.

Master Lew

Master Lew is 25th generation Dao Dan Pai having spent 13 years in the Taost monastery Yellow Dragon Temple( Huang Lung Guan) and training with Master Chen Poi. After 13 years Master Lew left the Yellow Dragon Temple and trained in the TaiJi Ruler system under Chao JungWa.

In addition to the Dao Dan Pai system, Grandmaster Lew’s heritage includes the first three exercises of TaiJi Ruler (Chih, Shen and Two-person Chih), as well as Iron-hand technique & Choi Li Fut Gongfu from his uncle, Lau (Lew) Ben of San Francisco. The Dao Dan Pai heritage includes the Internal (Qigong) the external (boxing) skills, animal forms (Tiger, Crane, Dragon Palm, Snake), weapons skills & forms (double daggers, spear, staff, cane/umbrella, bench & hoe), external qi healing, manipulative medicine (tui-na), and a herbal pharmacy with three liniments: Taoist 8 Immortals Dit Da Jow, Dit Da Shang and Shou Lianxi Jow.

This original Taoist 8 Immortal Dit Da Jow consists of 9 herbs( not 8) created to heal bruises and treat pain. Taoist 8 Immortals Dit Da Jow is thicker than most liniments due to the high amount of resinous herbs in the formula and it dries somewhat tacky almost creating a plaster type effect on the skin. It’s deep dark reddish color tells you this Jow means business when it comes to treating blood stagnation and blood stasis. This liniment is great for bruises, welts, sprains and offers mild pain relief, plus it works fast!

Each kit will make up to one gallon (3.78L) of liniment as long as you jar is large enough.

Preparation of the Taoist 8 Immortals Dit Da Jow requires 2 jars to prepare. The kit is prepared in 2 packets, one with the resinous herbs and the other packet with the non-resinous herbs. They are prepared independently for the first 7 days then combined together for the balance of preparation.

You will need a glass jar at least one gallon in size with a airtight lid, 5 liters is good if you have one or you can order one at Amazon at a reasonable price( See Link Below). The other glass jar should be at least 32 oz in size. A half gallon size jar works well also. Vodka is used as the solvent but if your budget allows, “Everclear” can be used for the resinous part of the kit. Each kit is prepared fresh before it ships and is shipped Priority Mail which also includes tracking information.
